I am highly ashamed of myself when my enthusiasm is misrepresented.
It is well known that I am very enthusiastic about a great many things, but often my energy is misinterpreted as being obnoxious, or a lack of focus and care. In reality, my excitement is part of my lifetime mission of keeping the world happy and worthwhile, because why do anything if you will not enjoy yourself while by doing it? My excitement is the exact opposite of not caring; it is, in fact, a part of the ideal I care about above nearly all else.
Happiness is foundational for me.
A world without happiness is a world without purpose. Why should anyone live? For money? For success? For fame? Ultimately, none of these things have any relevance in the quality of one's life; the entire goal of life, the reason we wake up every morning, breath all day, and rest all night, is because each day is another opportunity for enjoyment. As Paul Simon beautifully puts it, "I've got nothing to do today but smile".
I am driven by opportunity for accomplishment. Accomplishment is the basis for self-confidence and purpose in my life. Without my accomplishments, I would be nothing; I would have nothing to talk about, no reason to be proud of who I am. Anytime I take on a challenge or task, I am driven by the feeling of accomplishment I know will be waiting when I finish and the self-confidence boost I will receive in the process.
My love of doing things well influences my decisions. If I am to do anything, I am to do it correctly or not at all. It pains me so much to have worked hard on any task only for the final product to be marred by a flaw. Doing things well not only brings me a prideful sense of accomplishment, but also a friendly reminder that taking on challenges is definitely worthwhile.
I desire to always maintain or include understanding in my life. In order to be successful at any task, the task must first be understood. This task is life, and in order to be successful in life, life must be understood. Every moment of the day I look for clues as to how people think, how things work, or why things are as they are. This credo has one of the most significant influences on my life and crafted who I am today, yet despite this, I am, and always will understand more every day further improving my success in life.
Kindness convicts me when I am not speaking truthfully. Treat others kindly, for a world without kindness is a world without trust, happiness, or love. Kindness is one of the most important aspects of my life, and a crucial part of kindness is honesty. Reverse as this may seem, being truthful to another builds trust, and is therefore one of the kindest things a person can do for another.
Adventure is so important to me that I am willing to make significant sacrifices. Adventure is suspence. Suspense is excitement, and excitement is happiness. Happy is how I live, and no means are better than adventures at achieving happiness; however adventures do so much more. They bring people closer together, they are an opportunity for both discovering who you are and who the world is, and they are an opportunity for accomplishment, kindness, and discovery! Often I find myself making sacrifices or sometimes questionable decisions at the prospect of adventure.
My love of life is priority for me. God has given me the privilege of life, and for this reason I am not only uttermost appreciative and thankful, but also ecstatic at the opportunity! By default, life is good, but I like making it awesome and thereby love it. All of the values above add up to my love of everything, my love of life, because there is no gift greater than the gift of life.
